The Government (DEFRA) has announced a consultation on possible changes to the legislation regarding Dangerous Dogs and some wider aspects of dog ownership. There has been a lot of press comment today about compulsory insurance, microchipping, dangerous dogs and “Dog ASBOs” relating to the DEFRA consultation. We outline below how these subjects currently relate to the work of k9cabs.
We encourage our customers to have their dogs microchipped and we use the chip for identification of dogs in transit wherever possible.
We strongly encourage customers to take out comprehensive insurance for their dogs. Sometimes, for older dogs, the cost of medical cover can become very high, but it is worth considering third party cover in case your dog causes an accident or injury.
K9cabs has a very comprehensive insurance policy which covers our third party liabilities for injury or damage caused to others, together with our liability to the animal, covering injury, death, straying etc whilst in our care. Please note that we are not able to transport dogs of breeds which are currently banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
